What does it mean for you to meditate?
For me it means being present at what I’m doing; not to what “is happening”, but to how I respond to external circumstances. It means being so present with your mind, heart and body that you do not feel at the mercy of situations and at the same time understand that we cannot control them. Thank goodness we can’t!
There are so many ways to cultivate our presence and the more we can do it in the more routine actions (washing dishes, walking, cooking, cuddling your pet, reading, listening, like truly LISTENING to someone, even just your breath) the more we can say to know meditation.
The feeling for me is that of a river; sometimes it’s calm, some others angry, it may find obstacles, dry up, overflow or flow into the sea.
In any case, it will take its course
I can tell I’m in a meditation state when my heart feels open, and I don’t want to be nowhere else. It’s called the “alpha” state because it also changes the frequency of brain waves. ”
It is to find the sacred in the mundane. Not a moment detached from reality, but a fuller vision of reality itself.
And how do you meditate? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you.
